As you know, FF is all about combining style and philanthropy. It all began in 2010 when I gave up 12 years as a fashion and beauty PR and went to Haiti to volunteer after the earthquake where over 250,000 people were killed in under a minute. The country and people are slowly starting to rebuild themselves, but the problems of what this disaster caused have not gone away and are not yet fixed. FF was set up to show how you can be “Style Conscious with a Social Conscience’ and our all profits from our Zanmi (the Haitian word for friends) collection of ‘Humanity is Always in Style’ tees go towards projects that we have set up in Haiti. You can find out lots more exciting stuff by checking out our HUMANITY section on the home page of watching some videos in our MEDIA section.
This year my daughter tuned two. Apart from the usual presents of books and learning games, I wanted to get her something important. Something that would begin her understanding of humanity. Understanding that where we live is not reality and we are thankful everyday of how lucky we are to have what we have.
The decision was obvious. We have over 100 of our Haiti kids who need to learn, who need a future and who need and deserve to have access to education which we take for granted.
Education is not just about learning facts, but more so about learning how to think. It is learning to make good choices. It is learning to act with purpose.
Becoming educated is a lifelong process. It can be hard and frustrating at times, but it can also be incredibly exciting and enriching. Most importantly, learning and education can help you:
- Change the world
- Become a better person
- Reach your potential
- Eliminate your fears
- Make the most of mistakes
- Support your family
Meet Rochelna. She is just 2 years older than Millar and share the same birth month. We have sponsored this little girl to go to school for a year actually, we will sponsor her for as long as we are able to. My family has not been keen for me to take Millar to Haiti to meet all her brothers and sister, but as soon as she is old enough, I intend to take her to see this beautiful country and it’s beautiful people who I feel in love with and have promised to help.
You too can sponsor a child. It’s just $35 a month to give a child hope and a brighter future.
Our amazing partners ACTS have set up this sponsorship programme to change a life forever.
